Frequently asked questions
Will Profit Guard slow down my checkout?
No. The discount-blocking logic runs as a Shopify Function in an isolated runtime with a strict execution budget (Shopify holds Functions to a few milliseconds). The margin calculation happens via a single background fetch to our App Proxy that runs in parallel with the rest of checkout — buyers will not perceive any delay.
Could it ever block legitimate buyers?
Only when your rules tell it to. Profit Guard never blocks a buyer from checking out at the regular price — when a rule fires, the buyer just can't use that one margin-killing discount code. They see a neutral message and can remove the code to complete their order ('This discount code can't be used with the items in your cart').
What about historical orders if I update my costs?
Every COGS change is preserved with effective dates. Past orders always use the cost that was in effect at the time of the order, so your historical margin numbers stay accurate even after you update prices.
Do you store customer data?
No. Profit Guard does not collect customer names, emails, addresses, or any personally identifying information. We only read product, variant, cart-line, and order-aggregate data. See our Privacy Policy for full detail.
How do I cancel?
Uninstall from your Shopify admin at any time. All your data is permanently deleted within 48 hours per Shopify's GDPR requirements.
